We use a blend of the following :

1. Online awareness training package available to all staff members ( and mandatory for anyone involved in recruiting) - a programme based on a package from Marshalls ACM

2. Face to face workshops to augment training delivered through a mix of internal colleagues and external training provider ( based on ECU toolkit)

3. We also have a ‘mitigating unconscious bias in teaching & learning’ workshop specifically aimed at academic colleagues to support pedagogic practice and inclusive assessment.

Hope this helps

Hi everyone
We provide face-to-face training delivered by an external company and the pre-course task is for our staff to engage in at least one of the on-line tests through the following link (you will have to register)

Kind regards

Hi all
We are using a Skills Boosters module called ‘Understanding Bias’.

We are also intending to offer workshops to supplement the on line material but have not implemented these yet.

Best wishes
Pam

Nikki,
We have developed our own on line material and engaged with Sonia Bate from Edit Development http://editdevelopment.com/ to deliver an interactive, challenging and engaging session with our Heads of Department and members of SMG. Building Inclusive Environments is one of their core areas of focus and with the vast work they have done with organisations outside of HE and the quality of the partnerships they have , they do bring a richness of experience into the sessions. As a result of this, a number of our academic colleagues have engaged with Edit Development direct to deliver various different sessions on Unconscious Bias within their own Departments to address various aspects of Athena Swan. The feedback has been incredibly positive.

We also use elements of the ECU package in some of our other programmes and this has also been well received.

Kind Regards

Susan

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has engaged with a provider/individual they could recommend on Unconscious Bias. We are looking to explore a potential combination of face to face training and e-learning and are looking for real impact in the delivery. I would be keen to hear your approaches to raising awareness of Unconscious Bias, in particular what worked really well and not as well as you hoped.

Thanks so much for your help, it is really appreciated.

Kind regards,

Nikki
