Well, fair dos - he did visit Victoria in October 1907 when he was on his there-and-back traverse of Canada - there's nothing in the Letters saying what he did there, precisely, but he was making speeches to various Canadian Clubs, and it wouldn't surprise me, given the description of the desk, if it didn't come from such a club - and maybe he did sit at it to sign the Visitor's Book, but 'famous poem' - I take my elegant leave to doubt it.
