Subject: Call for participation: Economic models in cloud storage decision-making survey: extended deadline 29 February 2016
To: [log in to unmask]

Hi everyone,

If you are considering cloud storage for storing your institution's records, I'd encourage you to contribute to the InterPARES Trust survey below.  The survey aims to explore the use, or otherwise, of economic models in making decisions about adopting external, third party cloud services for storing organisations' records, and to identify case examples that illustrate the role of economic models in cloud storage decision-making.

All the best,
Joy

*Apologies for cross-posting*

Thank you to everyone who has already participated in this survey which is exploring the use, or not, of economic models in making decisions about storing records in the cloud. We have received nearly 100 replies and a very positive response to follow-up interviews which will enable us to create case examples illustrating the role of such models in the decision-making process. We would like to gain more than 100 replies from as wide a range of organisations worldwide as possible that are, or have, considered using the cloud for storing records and have or have not used economic models during the decision-making process.

So if you have not yet had the chance to participate the deadline has been extended to the leap year day of Monday 29 February. The questions are quick to complete (mostly multiple choice) and participants have on average taken 11 minutes to complete it. You are not asked for organisational or personal identifiers unless you are willing to take part in a short follow-up interview to provide a case example.

The results will be made freely available later this year and will enable organisations to learn what economic models are being used to determine the cost of using cloud services for records storage as well as how and why they are used.

Please do pass the link to your contacts who can help us to understand how economic models are used in cloud storage decision-making by our profession.

The research is part of the InterPARES (International Research on Permanent Authentic Records in Electronic Systems) Trust project exploring issues concerning digital records and data entrusted to the Internet (https://interparestrust.org/).

Thank you in advance for giving us your time.
