The position includes the undertaking of teaching, research and administrative duties as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Object Design. These duties include coordination, development and teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate units in Design. The appointee will be expected to have a track record of scholarly publication and an active, current research agenda, a demonstrated ability to attract external research grants, either individually or collaboratively, within the University's research theme areas.

In the role you will:
* Develop and expand the design offerings and culture within the Tasmanian College of the Arts;
* Develop capacity for the school in the broad field of object-based design;
* Develop external partnerships through research, teaching and/or community engagement roles with organisations and professional bodies.

You will be employed on a full time, ongoing basis.

To be considered, you will have:
* Experience in relevant fields such as Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Fashion, Jewellery or Ceramics;
* An understanding of the spectrum of contemporary design practice and thinking, inclusive of traditional and contemporary media and methodologies
* The potential for design to positively engage with social, environmental and cultural challenges


The Faculty of Arts is composed of the schools of Humanities, Social Sciences and the Tasmanian College of the Arts (TCotA). The Tasmanian College of the Arts is composed of Art, Music and Theatre disciplines. This senior academic position is located within the Art discipline. The Art discipline is taught across Hobart and Launceston, however this full-time continuing appointment is based in Hunter St, Hobart with the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer's principal duties at the Hunter St campus. Some teaching or administrative contribution may be required on one or more of the University's other campuses, especially in Launceston.
