A post-doctoral research position (Research Associate), funded jointly by the Newton Fund, Natural Environmental Research Council, Economic and Social Research Council and National Science Foundation of China, is available in the Sustainable Places Research Institute and the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at Cardiff University to study the role of social vulnerability in moderating the risks posed by earthquake induced landslides in China. We are seeking someone with experience in quantitative analysis of socio-economic/demographic or environmental data to join our multidisciplinary collaboration between Cardiff University and Chengdu University of Technology. The post holder will examine current indices of social vulnerability in China, examine the distribution of social vulnerability and landslide hazards to map risks, and develop models of risk for policy makers and other stakeholders in Sichuan Province and beyond.  

This is a full time position (35 hours per week), fixed-term for 18 months. The post is available from 01 June 2016.
