HI Cath

We used to check all of the evidence but we've now got to a position where we will only accept a one page application document from our support team. We have stressed to the Independent Learning Support team that we are no longer undertaking any checks and that they need to hold all of the relevant evidence for JCQ inspection as it's their responsibility.

I have been told clearly by Nick Lait that the Exams team don't have the expertise to assess and check the assessment pack and that this is the job of the SenCos - we've taken this advice and although it's hard not to query things at times we are getting there.

Regards
Lorna

Subject: Exams Access Arrangements

Good Morning All

Currently my exams assistant is processing the exam access arrangements on receipt of a pack of evidence from the Senco, the evidence should contain everything needed to support the application. My exams assistant double checks the packs to make sure everything is in order and has recently found a pack that was missing evidence to prove the learner had support in class and that a reader was their normal way of working. She asked the tutor for further evidence and this has now caused a problem as the Senco feels we should accept the pack as it is and not be checking and chasing for evidence. What are your thoughts on this, do you check the evidence or just process the application based on the Sencos evidence.
The amount of applications is becoming completely out of hand here is that also the same in other Colleges?
Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Cath Smith
