HI Be

I don't know if you are already aware of this but the West Midlands Critical and Community Psychology group meets regularly in Birmingham.

Our next meeting is on Friday 26th February at 3.30 at Parkview Clinic in Moseley (B13 8QE). You would be very welcome to attend. We would love to hear more about your work and support you in what ever way we can.

If anybody else is in the West Midlands and wants to join/visit/meet with the group they would be very welcome. Just contact me either through the list or on [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Best wishes

Carl

Hi Fabio

I'd be really interested in this project. I work for a housing association in Birmingham and have a tower block that houses many disadvantaged people. We have former homeless residents, ex offenders, residents with physical and mental health issues.

We've introduced some support structures, things like welfare advice, support for external agencies and a breakfast club as well as a listening tree project (soon to be launched) but I'd be really interested in this as a project if you don't mind the travel.

Let me know what you think

Thanks

Be

Dear all,

I am currently looking for organisations or groups interested in supporting the running of some pilot Workshops on Self-Empowerment.

This workshop have been accepted by the British Psychological Society for their Professional Development centre and will be run for professionals in June and September 2016 (http://www.bps.org.uk/events/bringing-positive-psychology-life-use-self-empowerment-tool-human-flourishing-individuals-and-commun ).

This workshop is based on the concept of “Eudaimonic Well-being” and draws from Positive psychology. It is aimed at supporting individuals’ ability to achieve their goals and aspirations by developing their overall resilience, sel-esteem, and motivation.

Some of the aims of the workshop are:
-              Learn thinking and decision making skills;
-              To increase individuals’ resilience and ability to deal with setbacks;
- Learn strategies to maintain self-esteem and motivation throughout time.

This workshop would be of particular benefit to individuals who are trying to change their lives as well as people in situations of disadvantage in the community.

The workshop has been adopted in various settings (e.g., organisational, clinical, community) in the past 20 years but mainly in Italy (and the persons who have developed it will be running it with me here in the UK).

As this is a newly imported workshop, I’m trying to organise as many pilots as possible to support the adaptation of the workshop and gather feedback to improve it.

What I’m looking for is organisations or groups who are willing to collaborate in the delivery of some pilots: for example, by identifying and providing participants, providing logistic support (like rooms, materials, organisation) and so on - of course economic sources of support to meet basic expenses are always welcome!

I’m more than happy to provide further information or discuss any potential collaborations so please do get in touch!

Thank you very much,
Fabio
