The Faculty of Health and Medicine at Lancaster University is pleased to offer a scholarship for outstanding UK/EU students wishing to undertake full time doctoral research on the topic of self-employment and disability/chronic illness.

The project seeks to: a) explore why and how disabled and chronically ill workers leave work and become self-employed, b) identify the barriers they face in becoming self-employed and c) establish how disabled and chronically ill workers can best be supported to ensure their successful self-employment.

The project will contribute to the work of the ARUK/MRC Centre for Musculoskeletal Health and Work http://www.mrc.soton.ac.uk/cmhw/ . Further information on the PhD project can be found here: https://www.findaphd.com/search/ProjectDetails.aspx?PJID=73289&LID=723

The deadline for applications is the 4th April. Applicants should have a first-class degree or a good Masters degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject.  The scholarship provides full tuition fees (UK/EU), stipend (£14,296 for 2016/17) and access to our research training programme. Funding is available for 3 years; subject to satisfactory progress
