The Faculty of Health and Medicine at Lancaster University is pleased to offer a scholarship for outstanding
UK/EU students wishing to undertake full time doctoral research on the topic of
self-employment and disability/chronic illness.
The project seeks to: a) explore why and how disabled and chronically ill workers leave work and become self-employed, b) identify the barriers they face in becoming self-employed and c) establish how disabled and chronically ill workers
can best be supported to ensure their successful self-employment.
The project will contribute to the work of the ARUK/MRC Centre for Musculoskeletal Health and Work

The deadline for applications is the 4th April. Applicants should have a first-class degree or a good Masters degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject. The scholarship provides full tuition fees (UK/EU), stipend (£14,296
for 2016/17) and access to our research training programme. Funding is available for 3 years; subject to satisfactory progress
