Commencing on the 4th July 2016, the 8-week post
will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain
practical experience of the work of a statistician employed in academic medical
research and develop their understanding of statistical research methodologies
within a supportive and dynamic research and teaching environment.
Specifically, the post will include:

A temporary full time position at the University
of Leicester. The hourly rate will be £11.53.

The opportunity to contribute to an ongoing
research project.
·
Full support in learning new statistical
techniques.
The successful applicant will be involved in a project
investigating the issue of contamination in trials of education based
interventions for self-management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. They will use statistical
software to conduct a comparative analysis of a cluster randomised trial with
its sister trial, which was individually randomised. The post-holder will
develop skills in interpreting and processing clinical data, performing
analysis using statistical software and reporting research findings.
Preferred candidates will currently be in the second year of
an undergraduate degree (or third year of a 4-year course) in a relevant area
(e.g. statistics, mathematics, economics) and have a basic understanding of
statistics and good computing skills.
