Hi Kathryn

I think options might be to use higher level data - say university level ?

I would GUESS that if a clear explanation is given as to what data is/isn't available then the panel assessing would be somewhat sympathetic - I think they look for data, analysis and clarity on what issues were raised and how they are being addressed.

I'd speak direct to the ECU and ask for specific advice.

Dave

Subject: Data for Athena Swan

Dear All

My question is around data and apologies if this has been asked before (I have recently been on maternity leave so may have missed some discussions)

At Chester we have recently obtained Institutional Bronze Athena Swan and some departments are beginning the process of submitting departmental applications. When putting applications together, departments are requesting data from the staff database in HR. As we are a relatively small University, numbers are small and the data can identify individuals, which is a concern where confidential information such as grade is being reported on.

Have others debated this issue and how have you ensured you can give departments the information they need? ECU have provided helpful information on some options but I did want views from other Universities too.

Thank you

Kathryn Leighton
