Hi,

How about a rule to prevent PSA on females but then provide a warning that if request is genuine, you need to use test code psax or some other code?

Same approach could then be used on male ca125 requests.

The approach would require that the request has something saying this request is from a transgendered individual e.g. In clinical details or the electronic record for the patient has a note saying patient is trans.

Dear collective

In order to stop inappropriate requests for tumour markers e.g. PSA and CA125, these are restricted on our requesting system by gender.

Has anyone found a good solution to allow clinicians to request these on transgender patients, where the sex has been changed on the PAS/LIMS and therefore blocks the User from requesting the test?

I am keen not to discriminate against this subset of patients, but also reluctant to lift the block and potentially allow the clinicians to request ALL tumour markers even when irrelevant!

Any suggestions welcomed

Karen
