in Higher Education within our Academic Practice Team here at the University of Kent?
The Team supports the University in its commitment to high-quality, research-led education, taught by well-qualified
academic staff. Through the Centre for the Study of Higher Education, we provide a distinctive academic home for postgraduate programmes in HE, a focus for research and scholarship on higher education and a resource for continuing academic professional development
for staff.
Given the team's wide remit, you would put to use your particular strengths and experience to contribute in areas such
as:
-
developing and supporting professional development work, including reward and recognition initiatives
-
conducting and publishing research on higher education, seeking appropriate grant funding and contributing to the development of the disciplinary community
-
directing the work of the Centre for the Study of Higher Education and fostering the development of the higher education research culture across the University
-
leading the PhD admissions process and offering research supervision
-
contributing to modules on the PGCHE/ATAP/PGDip/MA programmes
-
acting as a personal tutor for programme participants and conducting teaching observations

To succeed in this role you will need:
-
a PhD (or nearing completion) in a relevant field, or equivalent qualifications/experience
-
a relevant teaching qualification and/or Fellowship/Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
-
substantial experience of teaching in higher education
-
a thorough understanding of the UK Higher Education system, current policy developments and directions
