Her cult is attested in the "Depositio Martyrum" of 354 and a basilica was built over her grave in the Via Nomentana. She is one of the best known of the early Roman martyrs, the feast being widely kept in East and West. There are 5thC. Acts which made her to be a girl of only 13 who, because of her dedication to Christ, refused marriage and preferred death to violation of her virginity. She was killed by being stabbed through the throat.
