Hi Jing,

You can show them the story of 年 and the Zodiac. Talk about the festival food and traditional activities. Also, you can ask the kids to decorate corridors if you have some decorations. They will love doing them.

I am going to organise some workshops at school to celebrate Chinese New Year. We will do calligraphy, Chinese tea taste and Chinese folk song-Jasmine flower. Lots of students who don't learn Chinese attended the workshops last year and they really enjoyed them.

My school is in Somerset as well. Hope we can keep in touch:-)

Best wishes,

Hi Jing

How about introducing the 12 zodiacs to the pupils for a start? I've got a ppt if you'd like to use.

Dear all,

The Year of the Monkey is approaching...:-)

Just wondered if anyone will be happy to share a Powerpoint/Prezi presentation or, some great ideas on introducing the CNY to year 9-11 pupils within 4-5 minutes. The pupils don't learn Mandarin and are not necessarily interested in the language or culture. What aspects of the festival do you think would be most fascinating and memorable to British and foreign youngsters?

Kind regards,
