 These would clearly be cores from blade-knapping if they were flint or obsidian (or even quartz in Ireland or chert in Scotland). Worth handing to a lithics person.  Any early prehistoric strata in the ditch-sides?

A colleague sent me these photos of pieces of amethyst that were found in Cole Green ha-ha, which is part of the Panshanger Estate, Hertingfordbury, Herts. The ha-ha had the brick facing removed in c1801 when the house was demolished and the family moved across the valley. There is still a ditch where the ha-ha was and these pieces were found stuck in the sides. She is hoping to identify what/where they came from… garden building or rubbish dump?
