Speaking as a consumer....  issuu is HORRIBLE.

Ideally whatever you do needs to be downloadable, at least in part, because signal in heritage spaces is so patchy still, and many users still like to work offline.

There – sorry, that wasn’t terribly scientific.

Litza, it appears that you can't download from issuu either - certainly I was going through a visitor attraction's learning site & their programme was online in issuu but there was no way you could download it as a PDF - not that I could anyway. Certainly not intuitive! As I am doing research into heritage learning offers and STEM, it was very frustrating not being able to download it and I am sure teachers find the same.

Dear GEM!

We would like to upload a digital publication - we originally thought of using issuu. However, it seems that it does not support video and sound files.

A colleague suggested we use tumblr. Any other ideas?

The contents of the publication is basically text and pictures - but there is one mini film and 8 mp3 files to accompany 8 of the 30+ texts.

I'm curious what solutions you've found.

All the best, Litza

Subject: Transition work, mixing different age groups, or stronger self confidence?

Hello there,

A few weeks back I asked about examples of transition activities you might run for schools. I've got a few examples but it seems mainly, most museums don't have any transition activity. So if that's you and your museum doesn't...

a. Did you used to - if so why did you decide to stop? (Could you include a v short description of what the activities were?)

b. Do any of your informal activities / projects / programmes for young people mix KS2 and KS3 age people together - if so could you tell me more and / or point me to web details etc?

c. Do you do activities, projects or programmes for children / young people (formal or informal) of any kind that are about what it means to move from being one person in one place to a new kind of person is another place? Again any info, links, reports etc all gratefully received.

d. Likewise do you do any work for young people explicitly about personal confidence through a stronger sense of self / pride in local place?

d. If you have transition activity and just haven't got round to replying, I'm still collecting those examples so let me know if you haven't already?

Thanks so much

Best wishes

Sally
