The event is part of the exhibition season for On Their Own: Britain's Child Migrants and the full details are below. Martin Luther King (MLK) Day Event at the
V&A Museum of Childhood, Bethnal Green 

Monday 18 January, 18:30-21:30
As historic numbers of people fleeing war and poverty seek refuge, Martin Luther Kings’s call for universal economic justice continues to resonate loud and clear. We will examine through talks, film and performance the racial, economic and health challenges faced by waves of immigrants to the East End of London and explore the impact on children and families and how communities organize to secure their rights. 

Speakers include:
 
• Eithne Nightingale, writer and photographer, researching Children, Migration and Diasporas
• Professor Gordon Lynch, the Michael Ramsey Professor of Modern Theology, University of Kent and co-curator of the exhibition ‘On Their Own – Britain’s Child Migrants’ 
• Dr Michael McMillan, artist, playwright and curator of The West Indian Front Room
• Poet and actor MC Naga will perform 
• Bethnal Green Academy students  will talk about their role models and why their borough is an ideal place for the Journey to Justice programme.
