Hi all,

My name is Megan Denise Smith and I'm a new member of the group. It's great to e-meet you and be engaged in this online community. I have recently completed my master's in International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science where my research focused on forced migration and gender. My dissertation explored the 2002 UNHCR Gender Guidelines in asylum adjudication as well as representations of asylum seeking women. I also worked alongside my master's at The Refugee Council on the Powerful Women Project. Prior to this, I worked at the Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance (AMERA) in Cairo and at the Rwanda Women's Network in Kigali. I have experience working with asylum seekers and refugees in both urban and camp settings and typically work with SGBV survivors or mainstreaming gender in protection programming.

I am excited to be involved in this community and am very interested in the nexus between gender and forced migration but am open to many research areas (I'm also a member of the IASFM). I look forward to engaging with you all. Thank you and take care.

Kind regards,

Megan Denise Smith
