This should be the last year for these as they will no longer count in the league tables.

Can someone point me to where it states that candidates have to sit in candidate number order for CIE, I can't see this. We normally do this but then we get the odd ones who want to sit near the door or at the front etc.

If it's the same inspectors as would inspect Cambridge ESOL exams I would be extremely cautious about doing anything that was not in accordance with their regulations.

Although we were not sanctioned it was noted on an inspection report that the clock in our exam room did not have a second hand so the inspector was unable to tell whether any additional time had been given (either intentionally or otherwise) to candidates. It was explained that if he felt there had been more than 10 seconds extra given we would have failed the inspection.

Needless to say, all our clocks now have second hands!

Dear all,

A question to anyone who uses CIE to run the English IGCSE in the summer. My college has to accommodate around 700 students for the May sitting, and having lost our main hall we are scraping the barrel in terms of rooming. People may wish to answer 'offline' and be assured in confidence.......BUT do you sit each room in number order as per regs, or alphabetically ? And on inspection has anyone ever been penalised for this and if so what sanctions were imposed ?

Paul
