They are the ones who will know who is missing and to contact them to see if they are on their way. We have cohort sizes that require seating in mutiple rooms so have always relied on subject teachers to assist with the identification of any students (and there are always some!) who forget their college ID. This has worked extremely well, teachers have known exactly what their role is and we've had no incidents of them over stepping the mark so I can't understand why the regs have now been changed. In a centre with over 3000 students there is no way that SMT would be able to know even a fraction of the students well enough to confirm identification (similarly the 2 Exams staff!). Does anyone have any suggestions as I have to confess I'm stumped!! Thanks in anticipation.
