Hi
I would very much like to, but am unable to attend. I wonder whether there would be any information or hand outs available.

Kind regards
Claire Salter

Title: Working, short term and long term memory: Their influence on success and motivation in maths

Event Date: Wednesday 4 May 2016

Venue: The Thomas Hardye School, Dorchester

Time: 16:30-18:00

Description

Three of the key factors that contribute to low achievement in maths calculations: long term memory for basic facts and procedures, working memory and short term memory. As well as their direct impact on success in terms of calculation, these factors are exacerbated by anxiety and the demand for answering questions quickly.

This session will analyse the demands made by activities involving mathematical calculations and explore strategies to address some of the issues.
