We are looking for a qualified Conservator to join the Archives & Collections team who will provide a conservation and preservation function as well as advice, guidance, and training to Library staff and others
on preservation/conservation issues.
You will be responsible for appraising and providing for the conservation/preservation needs of current collections and new additions.
You will develop a volunteer programme in conjunction with the archivists to open up access to the collections.
You will prepare material for consultation, exhibitions and loans, and you will have some responsibility for public service delivery.
You will have had previous responsibilities within a conservation
department where you will have gained experience of conserving and
preserving different types of archival and printed collections. You will also be able to provide conservation advice and guidance on practice and policy for key library collections.
To be successful you will be ambitious and outward looking, comfortable working as part of the wider collections team, and you will be keen to participate in the variety of activities undertaken at
the
Library of Birmingham.
We are keen to support your professional development in terms of Accredited Conservator Status.
