Dear SEDA colleagues,

I am doing a feasibility study for an independent college which is considering revamping one of its BA degrees. The college has given me a steer that it would like to be better informed about what it calls ‘integrative learning’. By this it means designing modules that, instead of focusing around the traditional disciplinary sub-divisions, organises its curriculum around topics and themes that will require students to engage and integrate many of these traditional sub-divisions. The idea sounds appealing and seems to have something in common with problem-based learning or Inquiry-based learning. I am investigating that further.

I wondered whether anyone on this list is familiar with ‘integrative learning’ and if so whether you could direct me to resources; and whether there are any other avenues I should explore, and if so, what.

Any responses gratefully received.

Many thanks and best wishes

Alison
