A post-doctoral position is available at the Physics Department of the University of Cagliari on timely problems related bacterial efflux pumps involved in multi-drug resistance phenomena, to be investigated by molecular modeling techniques. The position will be funded by the Italian Pharmaceutical Company "Aziende Chimiche Riunite Angelini Francesco (AcraF) S.p.A".

The candidate will perform all-atom and coarse-grained MD simulations with standard and enhanced-sampling techniques to study the interaction of antimicrobial compounds with bacterial efflux pumps, and will evaluate thermodynamics and kinetics associated with molecular recognition and extrusion of compounds by these machineries.

Eligible candidates should have been awarded a PhD in one of the following disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational biology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biotechnology. Experience in the use of most common molecular modelling/simulation/docking packages is required.
A strong publication record in the field of molecular simulation/molecular modelling is desirable.
