Dear colleagues,

We would like to bring to your attention the following interdisciplinary
session to be held at EGU 2016 in Vienna "Earth's chemical and redox
differentiation: perspectives from metamorphism" (co-organised with EAG),
(GMPV2.2, http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2016/session/20208).

Abstract:
Processes that govern the properties, behaviour and mobility of volatiles
and redox-sensitive elements during metamorphism are fundamental to our
understanding of the formation and evolution of the solid Earth, its
oceans, and atmosphere. This interdisciplinary session will focus on
theoretical, experimental, and field based studies addressing the role of
redox and acid-base mechanisms that have controlled the solubility,
partitioning and transport of elements in the Earth's crust and upper
mantle, from the Archean to the Phanerozoic. Emphasis will be placed on (1)
the incorporation of volatiles and redox sensitive elements during
hydrothermal alteration of the lithosphere (2) modelling, experimental and
field characterization of redox partitioning during metamorphic reactions
and partial melting, (3) integrated studies of the redox budget of
subduction zones, as well as (4) methodological advances in the study of
metasomatism in the lithosphere, including the mechanical aspects of mass
transports.
Submission by early career scientists and graduate students are
particularly encouraged.

The deadline for the receipt of abstracts is 13 January 2016, 13:00 CET.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Vienna
