***New resource to support the leadership development of early career researchers and academics***

Vitae is pleased to publish a new resource entitled ‘Developing the next generation: A guidance and good practice resource for the leadership development of early career researchers and academics’.
This downloadable resource is the primary output from a research project led by Brunel University London and Vitae, in partnership with four other UK universities and supported by funding from the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education under the Innovation and Transformation scheme.

At the coming Vitae event on the 26 January: Developing the next generation of research leaders, Dr Fiona Denney and Dr Katie Wheat will lead a workshop to introduce the final resource to the sector and showcase the resource in practice. This workshop is part of the continuing conversation around the resource, including the implications for leadership development in institutions, and recommendations for the future.

***Call for content: Vitae Connections - Leadership in researcher development***

Vitae is inviting submissions for contributions to the next event in the Vitae Connections series: Leadership in researcher development, taking place in Glasgow on 28 April 2016: http://bit.ly/1IS3vC4

Leadership has been identified as a core area of the professional development of researcher developers and is integral to the Career Framework for Researcher Developers (CFRD).

The development of leadership capabilities is vital in fulfilling many responsibilities of excellent researcher development, including being able to apply first-hand knowledge of leadership to the development of researchers as leaders, working with related national and international policy, and through an innovative and strategic approach.

Contributing to this event is an opportunity to both showcase and develop leadership in the area of researcher development and submissions are invited to present on one of two themes:

•	Leadership in practice: Case studies of developing or demonstrating leadership as a researcher developer, including through the HR Excellence in Research Award
•	Growing future leadership: Case studies of researcher development provision for leadership, including examples of institutional leadership programmes and innovative ideas for the future

Deadline for submissions is Monday 8 February 2016 at 5pm GMT: http://bit.ly/1IS3vC4
