Dear Design History Members,

We are pleased to inform you of a Special Issue of the Journal of Futures Studies (http://www.jfs.tku.edu.tw/) to launch mid-2016, centred around DESIGN AND FUTURES. It will be co-edited by Cher Potter, Research Fellow in Design Futures at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and Dr Stuart Candy, Director of Situation Lab at OCAD University, Toronto. The issue brings together Design Studies and Futures Studies, and is bound to be an exciting and productive meeting of future-facing fields; as well as offering what we hope could become become a go-to reader for students from various disciplines interested in the methodological possibilities where design and futures intersect.

We'd be thrilled if you would submit a proposal (100-200 words) for an article, essay, infographic or other contribution describing your particular methods and the ways in which these make connections between the fields of futures/foresight and design (final piece up to 2,000 words). We are very much open to ideas about alternative formats for these contributions, including manifestos, process reports, and so on. If this is of potential interest, we look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible!

All abstracts and proposals for contributions are due by 17 January 2016. Please refer to the attached document for further details on the Special Issue's aims, structure, and scheduling.

Best wishes for the season,
Cher and Stuart
