All,

I am looking for some reference(s) that talk about using a random
coefficient for a dummy variable.

Assume that some of the subjects are exposed to a stimulus in a test /
control setting.

Having a fixed coefficient for the stimulus dummy variable implies that we
are constraining all the exposed subjects to respond similarly to the
stimulus.

Instead, I want to allow the stimulus responsiveness to vary across the
exposed subjects by using a random coefficient for the stimulus dummy
variable.

I am trying to ascertain if this makes sense from a modeling perspective.

Would appreciate any advice / references.
