Art360: The Gift and its Legacy

As part of the Art360 project<http://www.dacsfoundation.org.uk/art360/>, DACS Foundation and Goldsmiths, University of London are hosting a conference exploring the long-term impact of donations from artists, estates, galleries and collectors in supporting visual arts in the UK.

'Art360: The Gift and its Legacy' brings together experts from the visual arts sector, including representatives from museums and galleries, as well as artists, funding bodies and donors. We have invited leading arts professionals who have brokered new relationships, and the artists and collectors whose generosity continues to benefit national audiences, to take part in this conversation; and to share with us lessons learnt around legacy expectations. Archivist as interpreter: creativity and curation (working title)
09:00-17:00, Friday 04 March 2016
The British Library Conference Centre, 96 Euston Rd, London NW1 2DB

This event will explore the role of the archivist as an interpreter, creative and curator. It will look at principles and practicalities of display for physical and digital; facilitation and animation; challenges of content and subject matter in an exhibition; creative process, residencies and creative re-use.

The major forthcoming exhibition By me, Will Shakespeare<http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/about/news/by-me-william-shakespeare-exhibition/>: a life in writing, 03 February - 29 May 2016. This is a is a unique collaboration between The National Archives and King's College London, and will highlight nine documents which reveal aspects of the playwright's life, including his iconic will and four of the six known signatures known to be in existence.

The exhibition will be held at the Inigo Rooms, Somerset House, as part of Shakespeare400<http://www.shakespeare400.org/>, a year of events marking Shakespeare's huge cultural impact which continues 400 years after his death. Visitors will encounter Shakespeare in his own words and be taken on a journey from the birth of The Globe theatre, the naming of his players as the King's Men, through to his dying days in Stratford upon Avon.
