* 'Antique Newspapers', 1703-1882.

 

Black Cultural Archives was founded in 1981 to collect, preserve and celebrate the contributions Black people have made to the culture, society and heritage of the UK. These newspapers contain articles relevant to Black British history; these are usually on the Slave Trade but some articles relate to musicians, sportsmen and British imperialism.

* Carnoustie Golf Club and research by W.B.R. Coupar, 1891-2003.

 

Carnoustie Golf Club was formally established in 1842 and is based at what has been described as one of the toughest links courses in the world. Golf is known to have been played at Carnoustie from as early as the 1500s and the club is known to have been in existence for some time before its formal foundation. Records include Minutes and Reports, 1898-2000; Competition and Players Records, 1907-1990s; Visitors Books, 1898-1992; Photographs and Images. c 1900-2001. Also Research notes about golfers, courses and competitions, 1842-1996 and Maps and plans, 1888-1992.

* Wares Solicitors Collection, 1554-1977.

 

The original founder of the company, John Brook, became a qualified solicitor in 1791 and he established his first partnership in 1812 with George Bulmer. The collection consists of legal documents relating to clients, including families and individuals, as well as properties / locations and businesses. Documents include deeds, wills, mortgage agreements, death certificates and bond certificates, amongst many others.

**New on the Hub - Themed Collections**

 

The Archives Hub now contains Themed Collections. These are curated collections of digital resources, such as a multi-archive digitisation project or a theme-based aggregation. The descriptions include links to the websites that provide access to this content. From fashion to photography, dance to Darwin, soldiers to Shakespeare, the Themed Collections provide a means to find archival resources with strong visual themes that can be used for research, learning and teaching.
