You can sign up for this year’s luncheon and annual membership meeting of the International Spenser Society at
The cost is $42 for Regular Members and $25 for Students, Retirees, and Independent Scholars. Even if you are not planning on attending the luncheon, consider signing on to make a donation to the ISS . While membership in the International Spenser Society is free, donations are very much appreciated. Funds go towards things like medals and cash awards for the Colin Clout and Isabel MacCaffrey prizes; financial support for international Spenser conferences like the one held this summer in Dublin; and subsidies to cover travel, membership, and attendance at the annual luncheon for graduate students presenting papers at ISS-sponsored panels.
This year’s luncheon will be held at the Bella Vista Room at Osteria Pronto in the J.W. Marriott, one of the MLA conference hotels:
110 E. 2nd Street
Austin, TX 78701
512-608-4489
The MacLean lecture will be given by Roland Greene, the Mark Pigott KBE Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences Professor of English and Comparative Literature and current president of the MLA. The title of Roland’s lecture is "Spenser’s Unwritten Poetics.”
The ISS is sponsoring an MLA panel on “Spenser and the Human,” Sunday, January 10, from 10:15-11:30 at the Austin Convention Center 19A.
All the best,
Graham
