Job Advertisement: Closing Date 18th January 2016 Postdoctoral Researcher in IFU Galaxy Evolution Fixed term contract for 3 years Position Number: 10016986 Salary: GBP 28,982 - GBP 32,600 per annum Vacancy Name: Senior Research Associate Start date: 01/09/2016 The Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation (ICG, www.icg.port.ac.uk) intends to appoint an STFC funded Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in galaxy evolution and integral field unit (IFU) spectroscopy to work on the project Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO, which is part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV. MaNGA is an optical fiber-based multi-object IFU that is targeting 10,000 galaxies over a 6 year campaign that has started in 2014. The successful candidate will participate in the scientific analysis of MaNGA data with Dr Daniel Thomas and Prof Claudia Maraston within the SDSS-IV collaboration. A PhD in astronomy or physics is required.
