HI Zoe and Anne:
Re: practice teacher
I would love to help but I'm more North and currently trying to do the mapping for a girl on the course at the Robert Gordon Univ Aberdeen and it is time consuming to say he least!
It concerns me that there is shortage of practice teachers however those keen, able and suitably experienced may be put off by the time required to be recognised as a practice teacher. I hope this process will be looked into with the educational reviews planned by the FOHN.

Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] Placement for OH course starting September 2016

Hello Zoe

Try joining a local OH group. There is usually a list of groups published in the OH journal.

How did you get the funding through HEE? Karen Coomer and I are part of group of educators and representatives from the nascent FOHN who have been lobbying the HEE to get funding for OHN education.

There is clearly a lack of equity as to how OHNs and other SCPHN students get funding. HV and SN students have their fees paid and gain full funding amounting to being paid as a band 5, with two days a week in the classroom, two in the practice setting as a supernumerary member of the team, a paid study day each week and 35 days leave.

Watch out for the FOHN position paper which will be released tomorrow.

Anne
