Keep the Candle Burning!

Re-enactment of Michael Faraday’s ‘Chemical History of a Candle’ in Victorian costume and live experimental demonstrations of candles - with explosions.

Faraday delivered these Christmas lectures three times at the Royal Institution. The final series (1860-61) was published and became one of the best selling science books ever, still in print in English and translated into many other languages. This event explores why Faraday's lectures remain as relevant today as in the 19th century.

Wednesday 9 December 2015
18.30-19.30, University College London
Free / no booking required
