The figure clearly seems to come from a Mass of Saint Gregory (see the sculpted version given on the German wikipedia site https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorsmesse), so probably was fixed to a sculpted background showing the altar. The figure has small holes at the back suggesting it was attached to something. I would be grateful for any suggestions on the object’s date and possible use.
