The Romanian Cultural Institute is delighted to invite you to the launch of the first anthology of Matéi Visniec plays in English, published in the prestigious ‘In Performance’ series showcasing key voices in international theatre. Details about the book are to be found here:

The evening will feature a round table conversation on playwriting, cultural memory and the interactions between contemporary European theatre and the English-speaking world, and will be followed by short readings and performances from Matéi Visniec’s work. The conversation will be chaired by Faynia Williams, artistic director of Brighton Theatre, and participants will include theatre critic Ian Herbert, playwright Matéi Visniec and translator and academic Jozefina Komporaly, the volume’s editor.
Renowned actress Anamaria Marinca (4
Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days) will read extracts from Visniec’s play Decomposed Theatre, and Rouge 28 theatre
company will present a scene from their acclaimed production of The Story of the Panda Bears (Edinburgh
Fringe Festival 2005, Voilà Festival
2014) – director Paul Piris, performers
George Xander and Géraldine Cottalorda.
