Happy Friday afternoon!

I'm currently doing a literature search on inappropriate D-Dimer testing leading to an inappropriate number of CT pulmonary angiograms for an audit.

Sub questions are-

·       When looking for a pulmonary embolus what is the expected/acceptable level of normal/negative CTPAs?

·       Is there any national data on the above?

·       What was the original use of the D-Dimer test?

D-Dimer is a blood test that looks for blood clots/clotting problems, which I presume has always been the case!  But it’s the statistical data one that I’m stuck on. Has anyone any ideas where I could search for this information?

Many thanks,
