Hi Caroline,
We use RFID for issue and return of items but continue to use barcodes on student cards as part of the issue process rather than an RFID chip in the card. We have been doing this for a few years now with no
problems and are using 3M self service machines.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Emma

Subject: Self-Service and patron identification
Dear all
We are looking at an RFID project and I would like to ask/do a quick poll on what you use to identify your patrons on the self-service machines.
Currently we use telepen barcodes on our student registration cards but our IT department is concerned that the project will require a change to this and we need to address these
concerns.
Would you all be willing to let me know what you use?
Can anyone see any issues with us continuing to use telepen barocdes?
Thanks.
All the best
Caroline
