Chief Executive, The British Institute of Learning Disabilities

Salary: Circa £70,000 depending on experience

Location: Birmingham, with national and international travel

Founded in 1971, the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) has made a positive difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities throughout its history. Our work focuses on turning research and policy into day to day practice that has an impact on individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism and their families.

BILD is a membership organisation. With a focus on informing professionals and practitioners, we publish books and journals, develop and present conferences, develop resources, run specialist networks, offer training and qualifications, manage and develop a highly respected accreditation scheme, offer a consultancy service, support a group of self advocates and connect people together locally, nationally and internationally. Our current areas of expertise include positive behaviour support, ageing well, relationships, quality support and co-production.

We are looking to appoint a new Chief Executive who will continue to build on our legacy and ensure that BILD continues to make an impact on people’s lives.

We are looking for an exceptional leader who can drive our vision, develop strong relationships across all of our stakeholder groups and guide the organisation through its next stage of growth and sustainability.

The Chief Executive will be responsible for the overall running of the organisation, supported by a team of 16 permanent staff members including operations, business development, finance and administration and by approximately 50 Associates. Leadership, inspiration, vision and strategic thinking are all qualities that we are looking for, rooted in a commitment to human rights, and demonstrated by values and behaviours.

We are looking for someone who shares our passion and can demonstrate the core competencies for this high profile role. The individual’s cultural fit will be equally important.

Please read the information pack for this role, at the link below, for details of how to apply.

The closing date for completed applications is 9 am Monday 23 November, 2015.

Interviews will take place on Thursday, 3 December, 2015.

If you require any further information, please contact the Chief Executive's PA, Gail Pardoe by email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> in the first instance.

No agencies please.
