The Prison Service Journal is an open access, peer reviewed high quality publication with a distinguished Editorial Board of leading scholars from law, criminology and psychology, as well as those who work in, or closely with, prisons. The Prison Service Journal is funded by HM Prison Service of England and Wales but is editorially independent. Since May 2011 is available electronically from the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies (http://www.crimeandjustice.org.uk/publications/psj). It aims to provide reliable information from a range of views in order to promote discussion on issues relation to the work of prisons, criminal justice system and associated fields.

Circulation:

Six editions of the Journal are published each year with a circulation of approximately 6,500 per edition. Since its first publication in January 1971, the Journal has published over 220 issues. General editions and contemporary themed special editions are published, with the themes of special editions being agreed annually by the board in advance.

A significant proportion of the articles have been authored by international scholars and practitioners from the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, the Americas and Australasia.

Call for Submissions:

The editor and deputy editor welcome articles which should be approximately 4,000 words and submitted by email to [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] References should be set as footnotes. All articles are subject to peer review and may be altered in accordance with house style. No payments are made for articles and no charges are made for publication.
