Hallo all

The position at GCU

1) Do you use anonymous marking? YES

2) If so, is this a requirement across the institution? No

3) Do you use anonymous marking with Turnitin? Yes
4) If you use a Turnitin integration, which of the following do you use? Basic with Blackboard 9.1 CU3 + will upgrade building block from 2.5.28 to 2.6.6 18 December 18 2015.

A big issue we have with the anonymous marking feature is that lecturers enable it in Turnitin then don't want it and that then requires a manual change on an individual student by student basis.

Have a great weekend

Subject: Anonymous marking poll/advice needed

Hi all,

A late Friday afternoon poll to end the week and some advice!

1) Do you use anonymous marking?

2) If so, is this a requirement across the institution?

3) Do you use anonymous marking with Turnitin?

4) If you use a Turnitin integration, which of the following do you use? Basic/Direct/Direct v2.5

The reason for this quick survey is that we are currently using the Turnitin Direct v1 integration with Blackboard and are running a pilot project on anonymous marking.

In order to facilitate this, we now face the following challenges:

1) How we can distribute assignments to multiple markers.

2) How we can identify the student by programme (the student's programme is required for moderation purposes).

To distribute assignments to multiple markers we are currently advising lecturers to create an e-submission point per marker, a group for their students and then applying adaptive release for each e-submission point/group accordingly.

To identify the student by programme, we are advising students to enter their student ID and programme code as the submission title.

While these workarounds work OK for a pilot project, they are not scalable across the entire institution (they create further admin work for lecturers and rely on students to follow precise instructions).

We would therefore welcome responses to the above questions and any advice on how you have overcome these challenges (e.g. system set-up, designated staff to facilitate the anonymous marking process?)

Kind regards,
