Hello again Sim, it's a long time since we visited,

We're a Google site so Shibboleth was a better fit anyway and we actually use the OpenAthens implementation of Shibboleth so that all the library resources, ejournals and the like are all covered by the same SSO.

That means that a student who has logged into Blackboard can click content that's in a Google Doc, ejournal, or pebble pad and it just works.

The only problem with the integrations being so seamless is that all the support calls get logged against Blackboard because no-one knows where the stuff really is.

Jon.

Just to throw dirt in the mix, you can also now use Shibboleth with Office 365 (though some older clients don’t support it).

Subject: Blackboard and Single Sign on with ADFS or Shibboleth

Hello,

Here in Bangor we use Blackboard on a Linux platform and use LDAP authentication against Active Directory. We know Blackboard will support Shibboleth, ADFS and CAS. Shibboleth is well documented and works will in a University environment so the natural choice is to use Shibboleth for SSO. However, with Office365 using ADFS and Blackboard stating it will work with ADFS it may be a better choice for SSO in an O365/ADFS environment. So the question is: are any of you using ADFS for Blackboard SSO authentication?

Sim
