Dear Irfaan,

At Keele the guidance is as follows:

Staff or Students who have been issued with the ‘blue badge’ in accordance with the national scheme for disabled drivers are authorized to use any designated disabled parking bays free of charge. No permit or ticket is required to be displayed in addition to the recognized ‘blue badge’ issued under the national scheme.
Staff or students making application for issue of a ‘blue badge’ will be considered for issue of a Temporary Disabled Permit to enable the application process to be completed.

All the best, Hannah

Dear colleagues,

At UEL, we are reviewing our parking provisions for both staff and students and one of the areas of contention is charging disabled staff for parking. We currently charge staff with a Blue badge for a parking permit just like any other staff member. My question for those that have staff car parks is:

-          Do you have a parking permit system and if so does a charge apply to disabled staff too? Or are staff under the blue badge scheme exempt from any charges?

Any advice/info would be welcome on different approaches.

Many thanks

Irfaan
