MOLINE — Seven years ago, Moline city clerk Tracy Koranda decided people needed easier access to the the trove of information in the 33 thick, over-sized leather binders holding city council minutes for the 141 years before the computer era.

Ms. Koranda has passed the halfway mark in the massive task, with 72 years worth of minutes now available. Anyone wanting to look through council minutes dating as far back as 1926 can do so from the city’s website and do a keyword search to find the information they are seeking.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
