This workshop will help equip you to answer this question. Make the most of impact evaluation for your public engagement events or activities by learning about key issues and techniques you can use. Speakers will introduce you to a range of tools for conducting robust impact evaluation of public engagement, drawing upon their extensive experience and internationally-recognised evaluation expertise. *This workshop will cover:* - How evaluating public engagement impact can benefit practice and improve outcomes. - How to collect impact evidence using high quality methods of qualitative and quantitative research. - How to address possible sources of bias that could affect your evaluation. The workshop assumes you have a general familiarity with typical forms of evaluation. The focus of this workshop is to introduce how to push evaluation into measuring impact. THE SPEAKERS Dr Richard Watermeyer Dr Richard Watermeyer (University of Bath, Senior Lecturer in Education) has special expertise in investigating innovative approaches to 'upstream' engagement and dialogue. He has written about the expert/public interface in various educational contexts and led a number of UK Government and Government agency evaluations. Dr Helen Featherstone Dr Helen Featherstone (joint Head of Public Engagement, University of Bath) works across the university supporting engaged research and creating the conditions for engaged research to flourish. She has also been a post-doc researcher at UWE looking at the public's roles in public engagement. Helen has been Chair of the Visitor Studies Group, alongside her teaching and research. Dr Eric Jensen Dr Eric Jensen (Associate Professor, Sociology Dept, University of Warwick) is a leading social scientist specializing in innovative methods of conducting impact evaluation research. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cambridge and has led many groundbreaking projects on new social research technologies.
