How much of a corollary with (e.g.) UK policies, might be of interest to
some 'Lis-maps' subscribers - not that I'm expecting a member of (e.g.)
BRICMICS will already be flight+hotel-booked to attend as an observer . . .
(April?).

Mapping the Nation and Beyond: Maps from the Federal Government

Tuesday, October 20th, 10:30AM-12:00PM

As the United States is one of the world's largest producers of cartographic
resources, maps have long been distributed through the Federal Depository
Library Program. However, as these resources are increasingly going digital,
depository libraries are weeding their historic paper maps in record
numbers. This session will provide an overview of the types of maps
distributed to libraries through the FDLP and other programs, compare and
contrast paper versus online maps, and make the case for retaining and
preserving paper maps.

Presenters:

Hallie Pritchett, University of Georgia
Carol McAuliffe, University of Florida
