Ivan Traina <http://consideringdisability.com/authors/ivan-traina/>
Ivan Traina addresses the debate surrounding participatory and
emancipatory approaches in disability research. Answering three research
questions related to the active citizenship paradigm, this eloquent paper
considers these approaches as tools and the extent to which they can
support the design and implementation of socially innovative actions.

Released open access as part of Disability and the Problems of
Representation, this paper is another example of the excellence of
globalised disability studies.

*Key words : *Participatory & emancipatory research, disability, active
