Postdoctoral level positions in structural biology with specialization in membrane proteins

Last application date: 2015-10-31

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics (DBB) consists of roughly 180 people, of which 95 are PhD students. The department is engaged in education and research, the latter of which spans over a broad area and many of the projects are world-leading. For more information, visit the department homepage: www.dbb.su.se

Project

We seek postdoctoral researchers to combine X-ray crystallography with single-particle cryo-EM to solve structures of mammalian solute carrier transporters to understand the molecular basis of their allosteric regulation. We particularly seek candidates with prior experience of crystallography, protein biochemistry and/or cryo-EM. Experience of overexpressing complexes of proteins in either insect or mammalian cells is also a merit.

Eligibility

Doctoral degree in biochemistry or similar. A very good command of spoken and written English is a requirement, as is experience at giving research presentations and documenting research work. It is also important with experience of advising students. Personal skills that are important for this position include the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with other team members to reach common goals.

Terms of employment

Time limited employment as postdoctoral researcher for two years, within the context of the KAW project” Structural dynamics and allosteric regulation of mammalian channels and transporters”. Administratively the employment will be placed at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University.

Stockholm University is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from both genders.
