TOPIC: Research Associate in Computational Linguistics and Translation

This research-intensive position is funded by the Australian Research Council and will play a key role in promoting digital humanities under the direction of a senior researcher in the field to develop new research paradigms for data-driven linguistic and cultural studies. In this role you will:
  • support chief investigators (CIs) in achieving the goals of the project including construction and quantitative analysis; modelling of multilingual databases; and other tasks as required
  • assist the CIs in the collection and digitalisation of translation data in different languages
  • assist the CIs in computational modelling and quantitative & qualitative analysis of the multilingual databases constructed
  • work efficiently with other team members including partner investigators to carry out the project in Australia and overseas under the direction of the lead CI
  • assist the lead CI in the organisation of a major international conference
  • assist the CIs in the preparation of national and international research grant applications
  • publish original research papers in ERA A/A+ journals and research monographs with the CIs. 
The department is looking for an innovative and creative researcher who is qualified to fill this challenging position and make a contribution to this exciting research program.
