Duties and Responsibilities
Applications are invited for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate position to join an exciting interdisciplinary research consortium that is studying determinants of extending working lives, jointly funded by the ESRC and MRC under the Lifelong Health and Wellbeing Initiative. Using longitudinal data from internationally renowned UK and European cohort studies, the post involves research to identify the role of workplace, health, family and neighbourhood characteristics as potential determinants of working beyond the age of 50. The position involves data analysis, writing of papers and dissemination. The post holder will also assist with user engagement and dissemination activities. The position is full time but we are willing to consider applications for part time working for a minimum of 25.55 hours per week (70% FTE)

The position is available from 1st October 2015 and is funded for 18 months in the first instance.

Key Requirements
The successful applicant must have a PhD (or equivalent research experience). A strong background in data handling and quantitative analysis of large and complex longitudinal datasets is required as is knowledge of STATA and/or SAS. Knowledge of some or all of the following would be advantageous:  multilevel models for longitudinal data, multi-state Markov models, event history models, sequence analysis. Experience of working in a relevant research area such as social science, labour market economics or epidemiology is desirable. To be appointed at Grade 8, candidates must have a track record of conducting independent research including first authored publications and research.
